Do you ever think about how lucky you are? I do! I’m lucky because I came from a strong gene pool. I’m here telling you stories about my ancestors because they survived storms, wars, famine, disease and so many other obstacles. Some were enslaved and lived to have children who survived. I am the product of parents who were brave enough to charter a new path.

Today I want to celebrate my dad, Raul Resto Y Mijon. A man of God who taught me to pray, live, laugh, love, and sing. Dad always wanted me to do better in all aspects of life. He was my biggest champion. Always there to lend an ear, offer advice, and a shoulder to cry on. If I made a poor choice he would ask me what I learned and how can I improve.

Dad would have been 91 years old today. Happy Birthday Dad!
