Confirmations, Dulce Nombre de Jesus, Caguas, Puerto Rico.

Hola Familia and all those interested in Puerto Rico Ancestry. I’m always on the lookout for new documents for my Resto Y Mijon Family. While looking through undigitized images on Family Search, I found my aunt, Ana Resto Y Mijon, Confirmation, 1918, Dulce Nombre de Jesus, Caguas, with her Godmother, Juana Cedeno. I’ve researched Juana Cedeno, and she is also a distant relative to us via Geronima Cedeno. On the same page I found my uncle Candelario Resto Y Mijon, Confirmation, 1918, Dulce Nombre de Jesus, Caguas, with his Godfather, Cruz Alamo. While I haven’t figured out the Alamo connection yet, the family is in and around our Resto Y Mijon Family in all the censuses. I’m attaching the confirmation image.

How old did you have to be at the time of a your confirmation in Puerto Rico, in 1918? I ask myself this question because according to Ana’s baptism she would have been 4 years old. I also found my uncle, Candelarios civil birth record and he would have been 4 years old. Hmmm, something isn’t right here.

While everything isn’t completely clear in my family research, I get more clues as to their lives. Family history isn’t about the documents you find but how your family lived. Do you want to find your family in Caguas, Puerto Rico? Here is a link to many of the records Family Search has for Caguas, Puerto Rico.

I just love learning more about my family!

Until next time,

Lilly Resto Gunderman.
