Top 3 Puerto Rico Ancestry Websites You can search for FREE.

Are you researching your Puerto Rico Ancestry? Here are the top 3 sites I use for free access to record sets.

Search Census Records Online and Other Resources | National Archives

FamilySearch.org

Sociedad Puertorriqueña de Genealogía

The National Archives is more than just United States Census Records. The National Archives has maps, historical data, newspapers, and so much more! Take your time and find out all you can about the town your family lived it. You’ll be glad you did. Remember your family is more than just birth, marriage, and death certificates. They had lives just like you. To find your family in the 1950 Census clink on the link below: https://www.archives.gov/research/census/online-resources

Familysearch.org is a great website for baptism, marriage, and death records, whether or not you are researching Puerto Rico Ancestry. Create a free account so you can save the records you find. All you need is an email and password. If not, just look around the site. Family Search has separated research in Puerto Rico to every specific town. I spend a lot of time on this website. On the sign in page click on research wiki, and enter Puerto Rico Genealogy on the search. Ahi Vas! There you go! Or just click on the link below:

Sociedad Puertorriquena de Genealogia also known as, Puerto Rican Genealogy Society has many free records. To get prime access you should get a paid account but you don’t have to. The Sociedad has digitized so many records, making it easy to find the records you want without having to translate them. Most importantly you can support your community. Yearly membership this 2023 is $50. They also sell books exclusively to members. I purchased a book of baptisms where my mother’s family is from and was able to find records no one else had anywhere! They have free access to many records. Go to genealogiapr.com, spg resources – content for the public, free access. Or just click below:
Recursos SPG – Contenido para el público – Sociedad Puertorriqueña de Genealogía (genealogiapr.com)

I hope I have encouraged you to find your ancestors in Puerto Rico. If you are reading this and your ancestors live somewhere else the top two sources can apply to you too!

Thank you for making me part of your day and I hope the rest of you day is filled with love and prosperity.

Hasta La Vista, Until Next Time,

Lilly Resto Gunderman

  2. I am not able to access the records from Fajardo, like before. I get on 404 error code saying the URL could not be found on this server. I don’t what happened but any help seeing those records would be appreciated.
